Republican Alexandria Mayor Michelle Garay Endorses Tom Malinowski

Alexandria Mayor Michelle Garay Endorses Tom Malinowski

(Alexandria, NJ) Alexandria Mayor Michelle Garay has announced her support for Tom Malinowski in his bid to unseat Rep. Leonard Lance in New Jersey’s 7th Congressional District. Garay, a Republican, recently joined Tom at a round table with property owners impacted by the PennEast Pipeline. As the mayor of a river town in Hunterdon County, she is especially concerned about the impact of the pipeline.

“We need a Congress that works for New Jersey and represents our values,” said Garay. “Congress under its current leadership is not exercising checks and balances, and is intentionally hurting our state. We won’t change that by sending the same Congressman back to Washington to vote for the same leadership. Tom has spent a lifetime working across party lines to defend American ideals. That’s what this district needs in Congress right now.”

“I’m grateful to Mayor Garay for her support,” said Malinowski. “This election has to be about more than party if we’re going to protect our democracy and get better results for New Jersey taxpayers.”

Tom Malinowski was confirmed as Assistant Secretary of State for Democracy, Human Rights, and Labor with unanimous support from the U.S. Senate and was introduced at his confirmation hearing by Senator John McCain, with whom he partnered in the fight to ban torture and advance human rights around the world.
