REPUBLICAN SENATORS SUPPORT THE “REPUBLICAN ROADMAP FOR A BETTER NEW JERSEY”

PLAN LAYS OUT PRIORITIES FOR A SENATE REPUBLICAN MAJORITY

TRENTON: Following Senate Republican Leader Anthony M. Bucco’s (R-25) release of the “Republican Roadmap for a Better New Jersey,” which lays out the priorities for a Senate Republican Majority, Republican senators from across the state expressed their support for the plan.

Senator Declan O’Scanlon (R-13): “As the Republican Budget Officer, I believe the budget restraints outlined in the plan for a Senate Republican Majority are exactly what New Jersey needs to get our fiscal house in order. Trenton Democrats have increased State spending by 50% over the past six years while eliminating transparency in the budget process. Those abuses will end when Republicans are in charge.”

Senator Kristin Corrado (R-40): “During the Murphy Administration, law enforcement has come under attack and violent criminals have been emboldened by the soft-on-crime policies of Trenton Democrats. A Republican majority in the New Jersey Legislature will help restore law and order by respecting police and providing the tools they need to protect our communities.”

Senator Holly Schepisi (R-39): “Trenton Democrats have done nothing to fix a broken school funding formula that continues to drive property taxes higher across New Jersey. A Senate Republican Majority will enact school funding reform, including enhanced State support for transportation and special education to reduce the burden on local budgets. We will put more money into every classroom to address the pandemic learning loss that too many kids have suffered.”

Senator Joe Pennacchio (R-26): “Parents across New Jersey have made it clear that they reject the efforts of Trenton Democrats to put government bureaucrats in charge of their children’s education. I’m proud to sponsor many of the reforms that a Senate Republican Majority will advance to restore parental rights and ensure transparency in our schools. Unlike Democrats, we believe every child has the greatest chance to succeed when their parents and teachers work together.”

Senator Doug Steinhardt (R-23): “New Jerseyans are suffering from more violent crime and a lower quality of life as Trenton Democrats have chosen to protect the criminals who threaten public safety and terrorize our families and communities. A Senate Republican Majority will take the cuffs off police and help them to restore law and order across New Jersey.”

Senator Jon Bramnick (R-21): “Barely a day goes by that we don’t see new videos showing dangerous and destructive acts of gang shoplifting. I’m glad that a Senate Republican Majority will make crime and my bill to address this growing problem a priority.”

Senator Edward Durr (R-3): “New Jersey has a real affordability problem that Trenton Democrats have made worse during their 20 years in power. We can’t afford to have the highest taxes in the nation for our residents or the businesses that employ them. That’s why a Senate Republican Majority will cut taxes and make it harder to ever raise them again. We’ll put an end to the Democrats’ out-of-control spending that has driven them to raise taxes time and again.”

Senator Jim Holzapfel (R-10): “Whether it’s their rush to subsidize expensive wind farms or their efforts to ban gas cars and gas stoves, Trenton Democrats are working to advance Governor’s Murphy’s unpopular and unrealistic energy plan. A Senate Republican Majority will protect consumer choice, ensure energy reliability, and fight to keep gas and electric bills affordable.”

Senator Robert Singer (R-30): “As someone who served in uniform, I have been appalled by the repeated refusal of Trenton Democrats to investigate the failures that led to hundreds of COVID deaths in State-run veterans homes. A Senate Republican Majority will end this stonewalling to ensure that our most vulnerable veterans are honored and protected with the care and respect they deserve.”

Senator Vince Polistina (R-2): “It’s unconscionable that Trenton Democrats refuse to do anything to address the surge of whale and dolphin deaths in our waters and on our beaches that likely is linked to offshore wind farm development. I’m proud that protecting our ocean environment will be a priority for a Senate Republican Majority. We’ll push for an immediate moratorium on wind farm development to investigate the marine life deaths, and we’ll stop subsidizing the foreign corporations that are profiting at our expense.”
