Republicans of Hudson County on Election Results

Hudson County, November 6 – Hudson County Republicans salute the Hugin Senate campaign and all the Republican candidates across NJ for running hard fought and dedicated campaigns. Republicans, though disappointed at the state results, are united in their sentiments celebrating the first mid-term Congressional elections during the administration of President Donald Trump. “Elections are the life blood of the Republic, it’s my hope that the level of engagement that many have shown doesn’t end here but that people put the same energy into building up their communities and helping their neighbors” said NJ GOP State Committeeman representing Hudson County Joshua Sotomayor Einstein.

Christopher Carbine, the Chairman of the Hoboken Municipal Republican Committee said “while tonight’s results fall short of what we hoped for, we’re grateful for and proud of the race Bob Hugin ran, and for all the long hours he, his team, and family devoted to the race and to the state GOP.  Bob Hugin has always been an example of service to country and we are proud of him today. More locally this election cycle has provided us a chance for all of our precinct captains to engage with their neighbors and increase our presence going forward. We look forward to the work ahead, as we continue to build the Republican Party in Hoboken and Hudson County”

On Senate candidate Hugin, Evan Lazerowitz, Treasurer of the NJ State Young Republican Federation and a Hoboken resident said “Hugin and his team put up an impressive fight but ultimately national politics – and not Menendez’s dizzying array of ethics problems – was the deciding factor in this election.  Menendez should not view this election as a victory.  He won on the coattails of an anti-Trump protest vote and not on his own bona fides.  This should be his final term in the U.S. Senate and he should step aside to let New Jersey elect a senator who is not tarnished by misconduct.” Mathew Garofalo, Chairman of the Hudson County Young Republicans and a resident of Jersey City agreed. Garofalo stated that “Hugin and his team have a lot to be proud of and we are very excited about the new wave of Republicanism that Mr. Hugin has helped grow in New Jersey. The voters of our great state are beginning to see the values of lower taxes, less regulation, and job growing policies that are hallmarks of the Republican values we want to promote. Mr. Hugin has laid the ground work for future NJ Republicans and for that we thank him and his team.”

Einstein also stated that NJ GOP Chairman Doug Steinhardt “should be given a lot of credit for leading the party in an uphill battle, with creative and strategic thinking that has grown the number of Republicans and built a durable brand in a deep blue state such as ours”. Einstein continued, “there hasn’t been a more activist and aggressive state party or state party chairman in my life time.”
