“RESIGN:” COUNCILMEMBER JAMES SOLOMON CONDEMNS SEN. BOB MENENDEZ IN WAKE OF GUILTY VERDICT IN HIS CORRUPTION TRIAL
Jersey City, NJ – Today, Ward E Councilmember James Solomon issued a statement following the guilty verdict in Bob Menendez’s corruption trial:
“Bob Menendez has been found guilty on all counts in his corruption trial, confirming his betrayal of our state and his voters. Let us use his conviction to turn the page on the tired, broken transactional politics Menendez perfected in Hudson County. The people of New Jersey deserve better – and Rep. Kim’s successful primary against Menendez shows us the path forward.
“Mr. Menendez must resign immediately. If he does not do the right thing, the Senate should expel him. There’s no room for this behavior in our government – at any level.”
Councilmember Solomon’s remarks reflect statewide demands for accountability and integrity in public service. He was an early supporter of Rep. Andy Kim’s successful challenge against Sen. Menendez for the Democratic nomination for U.S. Senate, and has been a steadfast champion against corruption in New Jersey, including calling for the abolition of the county line and standing against the Hudson County Democratic Organization, which powered Menendez’s political career.
