Our Revolution New Jersey Endorses

James Solomon for Jersey City Council Ward E

New Jersey (statewide) – Our Revolution New Jersey is proud to announce its endorsement of James Solomon for re-election to Jersey City council for Ward E in the November 2 election.

Throughout his first term, James Solomon has led with courage from the outside, independent from the party machine and powerful forces that often dominate our local governments. James has stayed true to his campaign promises and continues to uphold the values of good government, while keeping the needs of the community front and center. He made Jersey City the first city in New Jersey to pass a resolution calling on city and state pension funds to divest from fossil fuels and passed legislation to regulate Airbnb, in an effort to make downtown more livable and affordable.

“As a councilman James Solomon has been a strong advocate for everyday people and a fighter for Ward E. If you want James to continue to represent you and not the special interests then make sure to vote to reelect James Solomon this November,” said Patricia Campos-Medina, Our Revolution NJ State Organizing Committee Member at-large.

“James Solomon knows who he represents – and that’s the people of Ward E, not the rich and well-connected who have their own interest in Ward E – and their interest is not the same as the interests of the people who actually live there,” added Barry Brendel, Our Revolution NJ State Organizing Committee Member at-large.

“I am proud to accept the endorsement of Our Revolution NJ. New Jersey is long overdue for progressive change. Whether it’s ending the ballot line so voters choose who represents them, not insiders or party bosses, fighting for accountability from police officers who commit acts of misconduct, or building a state that fights for climate justice, I am proud to be in this fight,” stated James Solomon.

Our Revolution New Jersey (ORNJ) was formed in 2016. It has successfully advocated for candidates across New Jersey and for issues such as Earned Sick Leave, $15 Minimum Wage, opposing a partisan gerrymandering bill, and many others.

ORNJ is currently focused on three major statewide campaigns: eliminating the unfair ballot design known as “the line”, which gives favored ballot position to candidates selected by county political organizations and/or county bosses; organizing for Medicare For All to ensure that NJ’s congressional delegation supports guaranteed health care; and advocating for police accountability legislation to empower Civilian Review Boards.
