Kate Gibbs’ Failure to End Sanctuary Protection for
Illegals to Cost Burlington County Once Again
TOMS RIVER, NJ – April 30, 2020 – Recent news from Washington has indicated that the Trump Administration is considering tying COVID-19 relief funds to the sanctuary status of local jurisdictions. David Richter, Republican candidate for Congress in New Jersey’s Third District, criticized the failed leadership of Kate Gibbs for putting Burlington County in position to potentially miss out on these vital funds.

“Kate Gibbs was the last Republican Freeholder Director in Burlington County, before being rejected by voters and thrown out of office two years ago.  Before that happened, she had the chance to be a real leader,” said Richter.  “Instead of ensuring the safety of Burlington County residents, Kate Gibbs stood in opposition to President Trump yet again and failed to end Burlington County’s status as a sanctuary county.  Now, that lack of leadership is going to cost the citizens of the county once again.  During a public health and economic crisis, Burlington County needs every dollar they can get.  Unfortunately, they will likely be missing out, all thanks to Kate.”

Richter added, “The residents of the Third District deserve better than Kate Gibbs.  They deserve a leader who is not afraid to stand up to the liberal special interest groups who advocate for sanctuary policies.  Unlike Kate, I support President Trump and his fight to end sanctuary protection for illegals.  As the congressman representing the Third District, I promise to be the strong conservative voice that South Jersey deserves, fighting for smaller government, lower taxes, less burdensome regulation and stronger enforcement of our immigration laws.”

Richter is the former CEO of global construction management firm Hill International.  During his time at the company, Hill grew from a struggling family business with less than 300 employees into a successful public company with more than 4,300 employees.  A lifelong Republican, Richter grew up in and has spent most of his life living and working in the Third District.  He earned two bachelor’s degrees and a law degree from Penn as well as master’s degrees from Oxford and Harvard.  Richter and his wife Michelle, who have been married for 20 years, are the parents of four daughters.
