Roselle Democratic Chairman Calls on Mayor to Vacate Democratic Committee Seat After Moving Out Of Election District

ROSELLE, NJ— Roselle Democratic Chairman and Councilman Rev. Reginald Atkins is calling on Mayor Christine Dansereau to submit a letter of resignation officially vacating her seat on the local Democratic Committee. Mayor Danseareau moved out of the district she was elected to represent on the committee in the June 2017 Democratic Primary and continuing to hold the seat would violate the local committee’s bylaws, as well as those of the Union County Democratic Committee. Chairman Atkins has previously privately asked Mayor Dansereau to voluntarily give up the position but she has so far refused after moving out of the district in July of 2018.

“No one is above the law and we all need to abide by the rules and statutes that govern our Democratic Party and our society, and Mayor Dansereau is no exception,” said Chairman Atkins. “As Chairman of the Roselle Democratic Committee, I’m calling on her to vacate this seat immediately so that a new member can be appointed to represent the district and ensure we continue to have a full complement of committee members.”
