RUIZ TO DEDICATE NEWARK’S ROUTE 21 AS

ROBERTO CLEMENTE MEMORIAL HIGHWAY

TRENTON – Senator M. Teresa Ruiz (D-Essex) will join elected officials and others on Route 21 in Newark to unveil a sign designating a portion of the busy roadway as the Roberto Clemente Memorial Highway, forever linking the highway number with the “21” Clemente wore on his uniform his entire 18 years as a Major League Baseball hero.

The road segment running between mileposts 3.90 and 5.83 was officially re-designated when legislation introduced and sponsored by the Senator was enacted in June 2016.

The unveiling will take place today
