Russia-Ukraine Tensions Demonstrate Why America Must Be Energy Independent
Gustafson: “Energy independence means we must have and all of the above strategy.”
COLLINGSWOOD – Republican candidate for Congress in New Jersey’s First Congressional District, Claire Gustafson, said today that Russia-Ukraine tensions demonstrate why America must have energy independence.
“As we watch the price of oil inch toward $100 per barrel due to the Russia-Ukraine tensions it becomes painfully obvious America must be energy independent,” Claire Gustafson said. “While Donald Norcross and his friends continued support of wind and solar sounds nice they need to realize that as recently as 2020 about 61% of electricity generation came from fossil fuels.”
“Rather than the Biden administration halting new oil and gas drilling on federal lands due to a legal battle over ‘the real cost of climate change’ we should be opening federal lands to oil and gas production.” Gustafson added, “With an oil refinery that recently cut 63% of its jobs in our district one would think Donald Norcross would be in favor of oil and gas production.”
“If the Russia-Ukraine tensions prove anything it is that America needs to be energy independent. Energy independence means we need an all of the above strategy, meaning oil, gas, coal and nuclear. It’s nice to talk about wind and solar but renewables alone will not help America achieve energy independence,” Gustafson said.
