Salerno Gets Powerful Nod from Rep Watson Coleman

Democrats See Growing Opportunity to Take NJ-02

Ewing, New Jersey – July 31 2024 – Bonnie Watson Coleman, the five-term Representative for New Jersey’s 12th Congressional District, has declared her official support for the Salerno campaign to win back NJ-02 for the Democrats. “Joe and I share two important things: a family history of public service and a commitment to bettering the lives of New Jersey’s working families,” Watson Coleman declared. “We will stand shoulder-to-shoulder against the Republican extremists working to undermine our economic opportunities, our fundamental rights, and our precious democracy.”

Watson Coleman was the first Black woman to represent New Jersey in Congress, and holds several notable positions including serving as a member of the influential Appropriations Committee. “You know you’re doing something right when you earn the backing of Rep. Watson Coleman,” said Salerno. “Bonnie is a model of standing up for her constituents, something I will bring back to the people of South Jersey.”

His comments reflect the growing criticism of incumbent Jeff Van Drew for having put the interests of South Jersey second to the mandates of the Trump campaign. “Pet lovers claim that Trump was the first President in 30 years not to have a dog at his feet in the White House” quipped Salerno, “but he did have Van Drew.”
