SAVE RIGHT WHALES APPRECIATES HUNDREDS OF NEW JERSEYANS FOR PARTICIPATING IN HANDS ACROSS THE SKY IN ATLANTIC CITY

“The Save Right Whales Coalition appreciates the hundreds of New Jerseyans who came together yesterday in Atlantic City for Hands Across the Sky, an initiative opposing rushed and irresponsible Offshore Wind development along the Jersey Shore, and in its concern over the impact that such development will have on our marine life including the critically endangered North Atlantic Right Whale.

In the last 37 weeks, since the start of sonar blasting of the ocean floor to support the building of these systems began, 61 dead whales have washed ashore in the states that have Offshore Wind turbines underdevelopment, two this week alone.

Gov. Murphy and his administration are rushing a process that will have long-term effects on our state, on our businesses and on marine mammal life in the area. We urge the governor to put the brakes on this process and study the impact these developments are already having on other areas before ruining the Jersey Shore with the Atlantic Shores, Ocean 1 and Ocean 2 developments that he is needlessly rushing,” said Save Right Whales New Jersey Spokesperson David Shanker.
