Saving Jane Partners with 1Huddle to Educate Thousands of New Jersey Students, Teachers, and Parents About Human Trafficking

In honor of Human Trafficking Prevention Month, the partnership leverages technology to gamify and generate awareness about modern-day slavery

January 11, 2021 — Newark, NJ & New York, NY: Saving Jane, a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization dedicated to assisting human trafficking survivors and preventing new victims, today announced their partnership with 1Huddle, a technology company that educates and trains people through the use of science-backed, quick-burst mobile games. Saving Jane is utilizing 1Huddle’s technology to educate teachers, parents, and children about human trafficking in honor of National Slavery and Human Trafficking Prevention Month, which takes place during the month of January.

“As a result of the pandemic, the educational work Saving Jane was doing in schools around the country has significantly decreased. 1Huddle’s technology is a fantastic solution that will enable us to educate thousands of parents, children, and educators about the warning signs and how to prevent trafficking,” said Kathyann Powell, CEO and Founder of Saving Jane. “We are so grateful to join forces with 1Huddle so we can continue our mission to prevent human trafficking.”

1Huddle is converting Saving Jane’s human trafficking educational materials into a mobile gaming app with a series of games covering their most important topics. The games will cover grooming, trafficking prevention, and trafficker awareness. Players will participate in the Slam Dunk Against Human Trafficking Challenge, where they can compete for prizes and awards. The games are availble to all existing 1Huddle users, and will be available to more than 100 New Jersey schools with the help of the New Jersey Coalition Against Human Trafficking

“At 1Huddle we are committed to fighting for equal access, opportunity and respect for every worker,” said 1Huddle CEO Sam Caucci. “When we heard Saving Jane’s story, we knew we had to help. Because we turn content into games, we’re able to soften a very heavy topic, making it more approachable for parents and teachers to address with a younger audience. We are proud to offer our technology for such an important cause and truly admire the work Kathyann and her team does.”

In 2019 alone, Federal law enforcement agencies initiated more than 1,600 new investigations into human traffickers, and the Department of Justice’s human trafficking task forces opened more than 2,500 new cases on the frontlines. 1Huddle and Saving Jane are working together to provide access to other schools across the country, as well as essential workers, airline employees and more. Human trafficking is one of the largest criminal enterprises worldwide, and there are more people enslaved in the world today than during any point in transatlantic slavery.
