SEIU NJ State Council Congratulates Champions of Labor on major victories in NJ Legislative races

November 8, 2023, Newark, NJ —

Statement from Megan Chambers, SEIU NJ State Council President

Newark — On behalf of the SEIU New Jersey State Council I would like to extend our heartfelt congratulations to all SEIU NJ endorsed candidates on their well-deserved victories. It is a source of pride for us to specially recognize and congratulate our endorsed ‘Champions of Labor’ who won with strong margins and made history in this election cycle: Senator Vin Gopal, LD 11; Senator Linda Greenstein, LD 14; Senator Andrew Zwicker, LD 16; Senator Joe Vitale, LD 19; Assemblywoman Annette Quijano, LD 20 and Assemblywoman Britnee Timberlake, now Senator in LD 34.
Today, New Jersey is far better and stronger with these victories – a more inclusive and forward-thinking State.
We also celebrate today’s victory with our brothers and sisters, who through their hard work ensured that our endorsed candidates emerged triumphant in their election bids. As the SEIU New Jersey State Council, we came together knocked on doors and called on supporters demonstrating the force that comes from the unity and solidarity of thousands of members. We are proud of our advocacy and to have contributed to today’s victories.
The dignity and prosperity of working people is the dignity and prosperity of New Jersey. We look forward to working with this newly elected Legislative body and will be watching to ensure they fulfill their commitment to New Jersey workers having a fair shot at opportunity and security.
As for us, we continue to stand against powerful interests, and advocate for New Jersey workers and their families, for fairer wages, racial justice, fairness for immigrants and a workforce treated with dignity.
We know the fight is not over…but we continue to fight, we continue to win. Congratulations to all our champions of labor. !Sí se puede!
