Tour of New Jersey’s 21 counties to commence TODAY at 6PM with wide-ranging public discussion in Hudson County

Newark, NJ – On the heels of a dramatic week in DC ending in a stunning defeat of Senate GOP efforts to repeal the ACA, today U.S. Senator Cory Booker (D-NJ) will launch his annual summer tour of New Jersey’s 21 counties highlighting the priorities he continues to fight for in the U.S. Senate on behalf of families across the Garden State.
The tour will commence TODAY at 6PM in Hudson County with a public discussion moderated by Insider NJ’s Max Pizzaro at St. Peters University with the Guarini Institute for Government and Leadership in Jersey City where Booker will engage in a wide-ranging discussion, with topics including the aftermath of this morning’s failed healthcare repeal, and answer constituent questions. Sen. Booker’s 2017 Jersey Summer Road Trip, which starts today and will continue through the next two weekends, will focus on his efforts to defend workers’ rights, protect health coverage for some of our most vulnerable New Jerseyans, stand up for New Jersey’s veterans, reform our nation’s broken criminal justice system, boost investment in our region’s crumbling infrastructure, strengthen our local economy, and promote the long-term growth and viability of New Jersey’s military bases. Highlights of Sen. Booker’s 2017 Jersey Summer Road Trip include:
Protecting healthcare for all: In Burlington County, Sen. Booker will host a roundtable discussion at Southern Jersey Family Medical Center, a Federally Qualified Heath Center (FQHC) in Burlington City, with local officials, healthcare professionals and New Jerseyans in jeopardy of losing their health coverage as a result of Republican efforts to repeal the Affordable Care Act to discuss the aftermath of this morning’s failed effort to repeal the ACA along with the need invest in FQHCs.
Addressing New Jersey’s opioid epidemic: In Ocean County, Sen. Booker will be joined by Brick Mayor John Ducey, Ocean County Prosecutor Joseph Coronato, health professionals, advocates and individuals in recovery at Hackensack Meridian Health Ocean Medical Center in Brick for a roundtable discussion on the heroin and opioid addiction crisis in New Jersey and how the Affordable Care Act has helped provide treatment for individuals battling addiction across our nation.
Ensuring New Jersey veterans have access to the resources they need: In Cape May County, Sen. Booker will visit the Wildwoods Vietnam Memorial Wall where he will lay a wreath in honor of those who made the ultimate sacrifice, followed by a roundtable discussion with New Jersey veterans to discuss efforts to best serve these brave men and women.
Protecting workers’ rights for all New Jerseyans: In Cumberland County, Sen. Booker will meet with New Jersey farm workers at a community farm in Bridgeton to discuss the farming industry and efforts to protect workers’ rights.
Answering the most pressing questions facing New Jerseyans: In Hudson County, Sen. Booker will participate in a public discussion moderated by Insider NJ’s Max Pizzarro at Saint Peters University’s Guarini Institute for Government and Leadership. In Bergen County, Sen. Booker will participate in a public discussion and live recording of Buzzfeed’s Another Round podcast at Fairleigh Dickinson University in Teaneck. In Mercer County, Sen. Booker will be joined by Congresswoman Bonnie Watson Coleman and Assemblyman Andrew Zwicker in a public discussion at the Princeton Public Library moderated by Princeton Councilwoman Heather Howard.
