Sen. Menendez Statement on the Advancement of the Rebuilding Economic Prosperity and Opportunity for Ukrainians Act

WASHINGTON, D.C. – U.S. Senator Bob Menendez (D-N.J.) today issued the following statement on the advancement of the Rebuilding Economic Prosperity and Opportunity (REPO) for Ukrainians Act out of the Senate Foreign Relations Committee:

“I applaud today’s nearly unanimous, bipartisan vote in the Senate Foreign Relations Committee to advance the Rebuilding Economic Prosperity and Opportunity (REPO) for Ukrainians Act. This legislation will establish a mechanism that will allow the United States government and our allies to hold Russia financially responsible by confiscating and repurposing Russian sovereign assets for the reconstruction of Ukraine. Now more than ever, the United States and democracies around the world must ensure Ukraine has all the resources necessary to beat Putin, to rebuild a more democratic nation as part of Europe, and to send a clear message to authoritarians around that world that they cannot take another sovereign nation by force.”
