Senate Budget Panel to Review FY19 Spending Plans for Health, Labor & Workforce Development, Environmental Protection
TRENTON – The Senate Budget & Appropriations Committee will meet on Tuesday to review Governor Murphy’s FY19 budget proposal for the departments of Health, Labor & Workforce Development and Environmental Protection, said Senator Paul Sarlo, the committee’s chair.
The Senate Budget and Appropriations Committee’s hearings on Tuesday, May 15th in Committee Room 4 in the State House Annex:
- 10:00 a.m. – Health Commissioner Dr. Shereef Elnahal and other top officials. The discussion will include hospital funding, addiction initiatives, medical marijuana; lead testing; women’s health, cancer research, the elimination of the individual mandate; the State Medical Examiner; and infant/maternal mortality and health disparities, among other issues.
- 1:00 p.m. – Labor & Workforce Development Commissioner Robert Asaro-Angelo and other top officials. The discussion will include the Temporary Disability Insurance and Family Leave Insurance; workforce development programs; workplace standards; the New Jersey Builders Utilization for Labor Diversity, and the Parolee Employment Placement Program.
- 3:00 p.m. – Acting DEP Commissioner Catherine R. McCabe and other top officials. The discussion will include the Regional Greenhouse Gas Initiative, open space preservation, the Volkswagen settlement; the electronic waste management program; public access rules; the black bear hunt; funding for the Bureau of Marine Fisheries, and pipeline construction.
