Senate Education Chairwomen Ruiz on Use of Federal Funds to Purchase Firearms for Educators

TRENTON Senate Education Chairwomen M. Teresa Ruiz issued the following statement regarding the use of federal funds to purchase firearms for educators:

“There is no scenario in which a teacher having a gun makes my daughter safer. I am appalled at the idea of using federal funding designated to improving the quality of education across the country to buy guns. The only way we are going to reduce the number of people impacted by mass shootings is to continue to enact common sense gun laws and to work to improve emergency protocol in our schools. Teachers have made it clear they do not want guns in the classroom, and as a parent neither do I.”
