The New Jersey Senate has passed a resolution sponsored by Senator Diane Allen (R-Burlington) urging Congress to increase funding for services provided to veterans returning from deployment.

“New Jersey is home to 430,000 veterans. Far too many are going without the health or career services they need to transition back to civilian life,” Senator Allen, a longtime member of the Senate Military and Veterans Affairs Committee, said. “Unfortunately, the Federal government has a long history of underfunding these services. It is our duty to serve those who have served our country. Increasing aid for returning veterans is the least we can do to honor the tremendous sacrifices they have made to secure life and liberty for us all.”

Senator Allen’s resolution, SR-65, will now be transmitted to President and Vice President of the United States, U.S. House and Senate Leadership, each Senator and Representative from New Jersey in the Congress of the United States, and the Secretary of the United States Department of Veterans Affairs.

“America’s veterans have a lot to contribute to our society. Investing in their continued success is an investment in our country,” Senator Allen added. “Congress has a responsibility to provide veterans with the highest quality care and the maximum amount of resources available, so that they can live healthy, fulfilling lives when they finally return home to their families. I am grateful to my fellow Senators for joining me in this effort to speak out on their behalf, just in time for Memorial Day.”
