Senate President Steve Sweeney and Councilman Hazim Yassin Host Information Session for Red Bank Businesses
On Tuesday, Senate President Steve Sweeney and Senator Vin Gopal joined Red Bank Councilman Hazim Yassin for an informational session with more than 100 Red Bank business owners to discuss legislation providing economic relief for small businesses. Throughout the session, many business owners openly expressed their frustration with the shutdown and many are worried they will not survive the summer.
“I fully support the Governor’s success in flattening the curve, but unfortunately over the last three months, Red Bank businesses have been decimated. While big box stores like Target and Walmart have been open, our 250 local businesses have been forced to lay off their employees and close their doors,” said Councilman Yassin. “Without real economic relief or activity, many will not survive. Thank you Senate President Steve Sweeney for your leadership and support of Red Bank small businesses during this pandemic.”
In addition, Senate President Sweeney discussed how businesses can best take advantage of the new guidelines allowing outdoor dining and indoor retail starting on June 15th. As a result of the new guidelines, Red Bank will be shutting down parts of Broad St to allow all restaurants, not just ones with outdoor seating, to offer their services to the public in an outdoor space. “
