Senate Republicans Thank George Helmy For His Service and Bid Him a Fond Farewell

New Jersey Senate Republicans thanked George Helmy for his service and wished him well after he announced that he would be departing his role as Chief of Staff for Governor Phil Murphy.

Statement from Senate Republican Leader Anthony M. Bucco:

“George is a well-respected and kind-hearted individual who bridged relationships with many members of the Legislature during his tenure. From a legislative perspective, George had a unique ability to work across the aisle and manage diverse relationships,” said Bucco (R-25). “I’ve had the pleasure of getting to know George during his time as the governor’s chief of staff and I wish him the best in all of his future endeavors. I’m confident that his tenacity and positive work ethic will bring him success wherever he goes.”

Statement from Senator Steve Oroho:

“I worked with George Helmy even before he stepped into the role of the governor’s Chief of Staff and I have always had a lot of regard for his professionalism as well as his good-natured, respectful demeanor,” said Oroho (R-24). “While our policy positions would often conflict, George was considerate and never let situations deescalate on a personal level. I was also appreciative of his accessibility and especially his willingness to assist on constituent service matters. I wish him well in his next professional endeavor.”

Statement from Senator Michael Testa:

“George was incredibly professional and will be missed dearly by members of the Legislature. Although we did not always agree on policy, I always appreciated how easily we could communicate our legislative needs with George,” said Testa (R-1). “Over the last few years, George and I have developed a true friendship. I know that he will continue to do great things for the people of New Jersey and beyond.”

Statement from Senator Holly Schepisi:

“In today’s political climate, many in politics do not know the importance of having relationships and making friends with those on the other side of the aisle,” said Schepisi (R-39). “George Helmy is one of those people who put aside politics in favor of doing the right thing. During his years in the administration, I found George to be a voice of reason, a man of his word and most importantly he became a friend. While I am saddened to see him leave the administration, I am excited for the opportunities that lie ahead for George and his family.”

Statement from Senator Robert Singer:

“It was a pleasure to have worked with George over the last four years on several occasions,” said Singer (R-30). “His professionalism and ability to reach across the aisle are skills that every leader in government should aspire to have. I wish George all the best as he leaves his current role and I know he will be just as successful in his future endeavors as he was in the Governor’s office.”

Statement from Senator Kristin Corrado:

“As the chief of staff to the governor, George was always accessible to members of the Legislature. He understood the importance of both communicating with and staying in contact with our offices. He returned each phone call and answered each text message,” said Corrado (R-40). “George’s professionalism, work ethic, and easy manner was truly appreciated. I wish George the best of luck and much continued success in his next venture.”
