Senator Cory Booker is endorsing Stephanie Schmid for Congress in New Jersey’s 4th District

Senator Cory Booker is endorsing Stephanie Schmid for Congress in New Jersey’s 4th District.

“Stephanie has a record of serving our country as a former U.S. Foreign Service Officer and human rights attorney, which makes her exactly the type of leader we need in New Jersey and Washington,” Senator Booker said. “As we are faced with an unprecedented health and economic crisis, we need leaders who will stand up for the needs of the American people. From her work as a Diplomat in places like Haiti and Brazil, to her leadership at the Center for Reproductive Rights, Stephanie has demonstrated her commitment to fighting for the rights of all, not just the few. I know that she will be a tremendous partner in the fight for families across our state. I am proud to endorse Stephanie Schmid for Congress in New Jersey’s Fourth District.”

“Senator Booker is a fearless leader whom I respect and admire for his incredible dedication to New Jersey families, and I am honored to have his support,” Stephanie said. “I have spent my career, not in service to a political party, but in service to those who have not had the voice they deserve in our democracy. After 39 years of absentee leadership, New Jersey’s Fourth District deserves transparent and accountable representation. Send me to Washington and I will fix our broken healthcare system, protect our reproductive rights, repeal the State and Local Tax (SALT) deduction cap, and stand up for New Jersey families. Every day I will work to ensure that the voices of our community are heard, and that our district is proud to call me their Congresswoman.”

Stephanie is a New Jersey native, a retired U.S. Foreign Service Officer and Diplomat who served our country overseas on behalf of the U.S. Department of State, and a human rights litigation attorney and advocate. She won the Democratic primary in NJ-04 with 70% of the vote and continues to work to expand her grassroots coalition to finally bring new leadership to New Jersey’s 4th District for the first time in 40 years. As the next Representative in NJ-04, Stephanie will work tirelessly to ensure that we have access to the resources we need before, during, and after a global crisis.
