Senator Cruz-Perez Issues Statement on Assemblywoman Egan Jones’ Retirement
Trenton – Senator Nilsa Cruz-Perez has issued the following statement on the retirement of Assemblywoman Patricia Egan Jones, who ended her tenure in the New Jersey State Legislature yesterday:
“My running mate, my dear friend and my mentor. As a dedicated public servant for the last 45 years, Patricia Egan Jones has worked tirelessly to improve the quality of life of every individual not just in her own community, but throughout the entire state of New Jersey.
“One to never be afraid to speak her mind, Pat always stood up for what she believed in. Pat has left an indelible mark on the City of Camden and has proudly been a leading voice in the fight to bring progress and prosperity back to the city and its people.
“As she takes her next steps following her departure from the Legislature, I know Pat will continue to display the same passion for public service; a passion and energy that is as strong as it was 45 years ago.
“She fought so hard to bring the Battleship New Jersey to the City of Camden, and whenever I see that ship it reminds me of how hard Pat fought, throughout her career, for the people of New Jersey.
“We are going to miss her in the 5th district and this Legislature is going to miss her strong voice.”
