Senator Kim Calls Out Trump Administration for Putting Americans At-Risk by Freezing Federal Funding
WASHINGTON D.C. – Today, Senator Andy Kim joined Senate Democratic Leader Chuck Schumer (D-NY) and Senators Patty Murray (D-WA), Jeff Merkley (D-OR), Amy Klobuchar (D-MN), and Chris Murphy (D-CT) at a press conference and condemned the Trump administration’s latest actions creating chaos and “waging war against the American people.” His remarks highlighted President Trump’s Executive Orders, his firing of inspectors general, and a memorandum released by the Office of Management and Budget on January 27th as examples of the Trump administration’s indifference to good governance or how the American people will become collateral damage to this chaos.

Key quotes from Senator Kim’s remarks include:
“I’ll be honest with you. Chaos is the point. Chaos is their plan.”
“Their goal is to sow chaos and I hope the American people see this because this is the style of governing, quote on quote governing, that we will see for the next four years. And the American people have to ask themselves, is this what they want?”
“The defining phrase of Trump’s administration, at the beginning of his administration, isn’t the “golden age”. It’s a phrase he used during the campaign – ‘the enemy from within.’”
“We see him now from the Oval Office trying to wage war against the American people, trying to think solely about how he can contain and consolidate that power for himself. Who is going to be the people who struggle and suffer from it – it is going to be the American people.”
Senator Kim addressed the cruelty of these recent actions and read a letter that a local organization sent to him overnight where they shared their fear about the Trump administration’s freeze on federal grants and the impact this will have on Americans with disabilities who rely on this support.
