Senator Kim Named to a Fifth Committee — Senate Special Committee on Aging — to Focus on Lowering Costs, Standing Up for Seniors and Caregivers
WASHINGTON D.C. – Today, Senator Andy Kim was named to serve on the Senate Special Committee on Aging. The special committee has worked to address fraud and scams targeting seniors, issues impacting caregivers, and efforts to protect Social Security and Medicare.
“I have always made caring for our seniors a top priority, so I’m proud to be on this committee and will do everything I can to ensure that my elderly parents and other seniors in America live the life of dignity and decency they deserve,” said Senator Kim.
As a member of the U.S. House representing New Jersey’s Third Congressional District, Senator Kim was a fierce advocate for older Americans and a leader in lowering costs and protecting access to critical care. Kim introduced the Helping Seniors Afford Health Care Act to expand access to affordable care for seniors, co-authored the Capping Drug Costs for Seniors Act, which went into effect this month capping prescription drug costs for Medicare Recipients at $2,000 a year, and championed legislation to expand Medicare to cover vision and dental, as well as protect Social Security.
In addition to the Special Committee on Aging, Senator Kim is a member of the Committee on Commerce, Science, and Transportation; the Committee on Banking, Housing, and Urban Affairs; the Committee on Health, Education, Labor, and Pensions (HELP); and the Committee on Homeland Security and Governmental Affairs.
