Senator Kim’s Statement Regarding Today’s Federal Sentencing of Former New Jersey Senator Bob Menendez

WASHINGTON D.C. –  Today, Senator Andy Kim (D-NJ) released the following statement regarding today’s sentencing announcement of former New Jersey Senator Bob Menendez on federal corruption charges, which occurred earlier this afternoon:

“Today’s sentencing is a reminder that nobody – no matter your title or the power you hold – should be above the law and that the role of a public servant is to pursue common good instead of one’s own benefit. I hope today is the last time we see an elected public servant from New Jersey sentenced for abusing the trust of the people. We are now entering a new chapter of New Jersey politics, one that must be centered around trust and integrity. That’s what the people deserve.”

Senator Kim works to lower healthcare costs and breakdown disparities in healthcare access across our country as a member of the Committee on Health, Education, Labor, and Pensions (HELP), whose jurisdiction includes most of the agencies of the Department of Health and Human Services.
