Senator Nick Scutari for Union County Chairman 

 

 

LINDEN, NJ–   Senator Nelli Pou, Legislative District 35th and Commerce Committee Chairwoman endorsed Senator Scutari today. 

 

Senator Pou remarked, “it is a pleasure to endorse my colleague, Senator Nick Scutari, for Union County Democratic Chairman. When I needed him to stand for the needs of children, women, and families, Nick Scutari was there. He cares about our Democratic values and fights for them every day.” 

 

“He is a fierce leader on the Senate floor and will be a remarkable Chairman for Union County Democrats. Senator Scutari will lead the County to victory in November,” concluded Senator Pou. 

 

In November 2011, Ms. Pou was elected to the State Senate. She holds the dual distinction of being the first woman and the first Latina to represent the 35th District in the state Legislature. She is a veteran of the City of Paterson’s municipal administration, having served in various capacities for over three decades. She is a member of the New Jersey Task Force on Child Abuse and Neglect.  

 

 

Senator Pou has been an effective legislator navigating many of her prime-sponsored bills into law. Pou created the New Jersey Civil Rights Act, a penalty for identity theft in New Jersey, a law on open space acquisition and park development projects and created the Office of the Child Advocate.
