SENATOR O'SCANLON BILL TO INCREASE EMPLOYEE PROTECTIONS PASSES SENATE LABOR COMMITTEE
March 3, 2025
Bipartisan legislation sponsored by Senator Declan O'Scanlon (R-13) that seeks to ban non-disparagement agreements in employee contracts and collective bargaining agreements has passed the Senate Labor Committee.
S-1688 would prohibit non-disparagement clauses, which generally prevent employees from making negative comments about their employers, from being included in employment contracts.
“Employees should not be forced into agreements that prevent them from expressing concerns about their workplace,” said Senator O'Scanlon. “This bill ensures that workers have the ability to speak freely without fear of retaliation, while still maintaining a professional and respectful work environment.”
