SENATOR POU, ASSEMBLYWOMAN SUMTER AND ASSEMBLYMAN WIMBERLY SECURED RENOMINATION TO RUN FOR OFFICE FROM
CHAIRMAN CURRIE, VICE CHAIR TANIS
AND PASSAIC COUNTY DEMOCRATIC LEADERS
WOODLAND PARK, NJ: 35th District state legislators, Senator Nellie Pou, Assemblywoman Shavonda Sumter, Assemblyman Benjie Wimberly were renominated to run for their respective public offices today by Passaic County Chairman John Currie, Vice Chairwoman Barbara Tanis and the 35th District Democratic Municipal Leaders, during a screening held at the American Legion Post 238 in Woodland Park.
The leadership heard directly from each incumbent in a socially distanced room, where they had an opportunity to speak about their work on behalf of their constituents, their platform and their plan moving forward for continuing to represent the residents of this great state.
“I am truly grateful for the continued support and the vote of confidence from Chairman John Currie, Vice Chairwoman Barbara Tanis and the Municipal Leaders for renominating me to run for Senate,” said Senator Nellie Pou. “I am privileged to represent New Jersey’s 35th District—the community I was born and raised in. I vow to continue advocating for equitable and inclusive policies that are right for our state—policies pertaining to healthcare, education, commerce, housing and economic growth, to name a few.” Senator Pou concluded by saying, “I look forward to working with my dynamic colleagues and district mates, Assemblywoman Sumter and Assemblyman Wimberly. I know that together we will continue to work diligently to meet the needs of our constituency.”
Assemblywoman Sumter expressed how, “it is an honor to receive the confidence of the 35th District Passaic County leaders to continue to fight for the needs of the people in Trenton. I look forward to earning the vote of the voters in partnership with Senator Pou and Assemblyman Wimberly.”
“Ten years ago, I embarked on a journey, which has allowed me to put forth meaningful laws, affecting youth, seniors, businesses, infrastructure, public safety, teachers, labor unions, transportation, healthcare, housing, municipalities, higher education and to assist our constituents with their concerns,” said Assemblyman Wimberly. “Thank you to Passaic County Democratice Chairman John Currie, Vice Chairwoman Barbara Tanis and the District 35 Municipal Leaders for once again, selecting me to represent the residents of D35 and the State of New Jersey,” expressed Assemblyman Wimberly, as he concluded his comments.
All three incumbents said that they are equally dedicated and committed to addressing the issues affecting the residents, and that they are looking forward to continuing to speak with their voters in the coming months.
