Senator-select Colin Bell calls for an Atlantic County Summit to Submit Bid for New Amazon HQ

(Northfield, NJ) — Senator-select Colin Bell of the 2nd Legislative District, released the following statement this morning urging regional leaders to gather for a Summit in September to put together a proposal to bid on the Amazon HQ.

“Earlier this week Fortune 500 company Amazon.com announced they’re putting out an RFP to local municipalities and counties to build a second world headquarters with a potential investment of over $5 billion and over 50,000 new good paying jobs.

‘I firmly believe Atlantic County should submit a bid. I’m calling on county leaders including our County Executive, Freeholder Board, CRDA, Atlantic County Economic Alliance, New Jersey EDA, Atlantic County Mayors Association and other stakeholders to gather together for a summit on September 20th, 2017 at 1:00pm at the 2nd District legislative office to discuss and put together a realistic proposal for an RFP submission for Amazon.

‘Our region is unique, and that is what Amazon is looking for. I look forward to meeting with colleagues from across the county to make this a reality.”

Over the next couple of days Bell will be calling Atlantic County leaders to lock in participation in the summit.
