Sheet Metal Workers NJ State Council Endorses Steve Sweeney for Governor

New Jersey— The Sheet Metal Workers NJ State Council (SMART), representing the proud members of five unions – Local 19, Local 22, Local 25, Local 27, and Local 137—is pleased to officially endorse Steve Sweeney in his campaign for Governor of New Jersey.

As a longtime advocate for workers’ rights and labor unions, Sweeney has demonstrated a strong commitment to improving the lives of working families across the state.

Joe Demark, President of the Sheet Metal Workers NJ State Council, spoke enthusiastically in support of Sweeney’s candidacy:

“Steve Sweeney has consistently stood by labor unions and fought for fair wages, safer working conditions, and the rights of workers to organize. His track record of advocating for the working people of New Jersey is unparalleled. We believe Steve Sweeney is ready to be Governor on day 1. He is the right leader to move New Jersey forward and ensure that the interests of hardworking men and women are front and center in Trenton. Our members are proud to stand with him in this race for Governor.”

Steve Sweeney, the Democratic candidate for Governor and former State Senate President, expressed his gratitude for the endorsement:

“I am honored to receive the endorsement of the Sheet Metal Workers NJ State Council and its members across New Jersey. These men and women represent the backbone of our state’s infrastructure and construction industries. Their dedication and craftsmanship build the foundation of our communities. As Governor, I will continue to fight for good-paying jobs and the respect that every worker deserves. Together, we will create a better future for all working families in New Jersey.”

The endorsement from the Sheet Metal Workers NJ State Council is another key show of support for Sweeney, who has long been a champion of labor unions during his time in the New Jersey State Senate. The Sheet Metal Workers’ endorsement further solidifies his standing as the candidate of choice for working families.
