Sherrill Blasts Department of Transportation on Congestion Pricing Decision, Urges New Jersey to Sue

Parsippany, NJ — Representative Mikie Sherrill (NJ-11) is blasting the Department of Transportation’s decision to move forward with New York’s unfair congestion pricing plan, which will cost New Jersey commuters up to $23 each day to get into New York City for work.

“This decision is a slap in the face of every New Jersey commuter who powers the city’s economy and every New Jersey resident whose local roads will soon be overwhelmed with rerouted traffic. Not only is this a huge economic boom to New York but there is not a single dollar coming to New Jersey to pay to mitigate the impacts of this policy. I am going to do everything I can to encourage New York-based companies to relocate to the Garden State. Governor Murphy is right to explore legal options and I urge New Jersey to sue.”

Sherrill recently led a bipartisan group of New Jersey Members of Congress in calling on New York Governor Kathy Hochul to cancel the pending implementation of New York City’s congestion pricing plan, which will impose significant new costs on New Jersey commuters and families.
