Singleton Distributes Over 800 New, Winter Coats to Burlington County Children in November

Moorestown, NJ – In an effort to help Burlington County children stay warm this winter, and as a continuation of his commitment to community service, Senator Troy Singleton announced that he distributed over 800 new, winter coats in November.

Through three separate community events, Senator Singleton and his volunteers helped children select their coats. The majority of the coats were donated by the education advocacy group, Better Education for Kids (B4K).  The Senator and B4K have a long-standing partnership, as they have worked together previously on an annual back-to-school backpack program. This past August, they donated 1,500 backpacks and supplies to Burlington County students in need. The remainder of the coats was purchased from the Burlington Wal-Mart store.

“It is an honor to once again partner with Better Education for Kids in our shared goal of ensuring that Burlington County children have the tools they need to succeed and thrive – whether that is a backpack filled with supplies, or a winter coat to keep them warm on their way to school,” said Senator Singleton. “I also want to thank Wal-Mart in Burlington for helping us fulfill the need for additional coats.”

The Senator worked with local social service organizations, non-profits and school districts to help pre-register and identify kids who may be in need of a winter coat including: local churches, Burlington Community Action Program, UIH Family Partners, City of Burlington, City of Burlington Public Schools, and Florence Township Public Schools.

Senator Singleton has made community service an integral part of his time in office. Since becoming a State Senator in 2018, Senator Singleton has held 24 monthly “Serve with Senator Singleton” community service events where he and a group of volunteers work together on various projects. These projects include indoor and outdoor clean-up days, animal welfare projects, painting projects, and community event set-up and staffing. In addition, the Senator holds an annual Family Fun Day, annual back-to-school haircut event for kids, and various supply drives throughout the year.
