Smith, Egan and Danielsen Kick Off 17th Legislative District Campaign

(New Brunswick) Joined by Democratic leaders from the 17th Legislative District, the team of Senator Bob Smith, Assemblyman Joseph V. Egan and Assemblyman Joe Danielsen kicked off their 2023 re-election campaign last evening.  As one of the most respected and experienced teams in the New Jersey Legislature this trio of veteran legislators have a longstanding record producing positive results to benefit New Jersey families.

Smith, Egan and Danielsen believe that our state’s priorities should start with opportunity.  They have worked to create new jobs through infrastructure improvements and green economy initiatives.  They have helped working families by raising the minimum wage and expanding paid family leave and they are battling climate change through clean energy initiatives.

“Great things are happening around the 17th District, and I am honored to once again be running alongside Assemblymen Joe Egan and Joe Danielsen,” said Smith.  “Together, we’ve worked to bring in hundreds of millions of dollars to improve the quality of life for all residents from the New Brunswick train station renovation, design of the North Brunswick Transit Hub, completion of the New Brunswick Performing Arts Center, funding for a major cancer research center, numerous infrastructure improvements including the completion of construction on Route 18 as well as roadway and bridge repairs, expanding public health centers, providing child-care credits, improvements to our community parks and so much more,” Smith continued.

“Bob and Joe care deeply about keeping our state affordable for New Jersey’s hard-working families, ensuring quality education for students and quality of life for seniors and veterans.  As a team, we will continue to work to fight crime, protect our children, our businesses, and our environment for a safer and healthier New Jersey,” said Danielsen.

“We have fostered good working relationships over the years and we consistently work together with federal, state, county, and local leaders to ensure our communities have a solid foundation to support our residents and that services are in place for all to thrive. I look forward to continuing to work with Bob and Joe to improve our district and our state,” said Egan.

Senator Bob Smith is one of New Jersey’s leading environmental lawmakers.   As Chairman of the Environment and Energy Committee Bob sponsored the law that provided a stable funding source for open space, farmland, and historic preservation, passed legislation banning single-use plastic bags and is leading the way for a clean energy future.  Assemblyman Joe Egan is a leader in creating new sustainable jobs as well as strengthening health and safety workplace laws.  As Chairman of the Labor Committee, Joe fought to raise the minimum wage for New Jersey working families.  Assemblyman Joe Danielsen, a U.S. Army Veteran, is a progressive voice in Trenton for education funding, better services for our seniors and veterans and tax credits for small businesses.   As Chairman of the Oversight, Reform and Federal Relations Committee, Joe worked to legalize marijuana for the Garden State.

From food drives to supply-filled back packs for schoolchildren, hot lunches, warm coats and advocacy issues Senator Bob Smith, Assemblyman Joe Egan and Assemblyman Joe Danielsen work to meet the needs of the families of the 17th District.  Helping others is what this team considers their duty as public servants.

The 17th Legislative District includes New Brunswick, North Brunswick, Piscataway, Franklin, and South Bound Brook.
