FOR IMMEDIATE PRESS RELEASE

SOCIAL JUSTICE GROUPS WILL JOURNEY TO WASHINGTON FOR PROTEST ON PRESIDENT’S DAY

The People’s Organization For Progress, Rally Forward and NAACP Newark are organizing a bus trip to a Presidents’ Day protest on Monday, February 17, 2025 in Washington DC.

“We are going to Washington on Monday to protest the racist, fascist, right-wing policies, and proposed budget cuts of the Trump administration,” Lawrence Hamm, chairman, People’s Organization For Progress stated.

“We urge everyone who is outraged about what Trump, Musk and their supporters in Congress are doing to get on the bus and come with us to Washington,” Hamm said.

“These racist attacks on Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion (DEI) and affirmative action are not so veiled attempts to blame black people for anything that goes wrong as Trump did with the recent midair collision,” he said.

“Trump’s elimination of DEI programs, Musk’s Nazi-style salute and support of racist and fascist forces at home and abroad show us who they are and what they are about,” he said.

“We are going to Washington to say we will not be blamed or erased,” Hamm said.

“This is a Constitutional crisis. I think many people may regret that they did not do enough. We all have power. Do something. Get on the bus,” Gloria J. Browne-Marshall, president, Rally Forward stated.

“The recent draconian decisions to wipe out agencies that are essential to the well being of American citizens must be opposed,“ Deborah Smith Gregory, president, NAACP Newark stated.

Busses will depart 5:00am from Newark, New Jersey and New York City. People who want to ride the bus will not be charged a ticket price. However, donations to help defray the cost of the bus will be accepted.

“If there was ever a time to protest, it is now. We still have seats available on the bus. Those who want to go should contact us as soon as possible,” Hamm said.

For seat reservations, departure locations and other information New Jersey residents can call (973)801-0001. If you live in New York call (970)510-0022.
