Somerset County Democrats question Brian Levine’s ability to manage Franklin Township finances and call for him to withdraw his candidacy.

Court removed Levine as executor of estate and orders him to personally repay over $200,000.

Court documents obtained by the Somerset County Democratic party revealed that Brian Levine was removed as the executor of the Estate of Harry Brown and ordered to personally repay more than $200,000 to the Estate.

In 2015, Levine was named the executor and was responsible for managing the Estate and disbursing funds to Brown’s daughters. Brown’s children allege in the Complaint that Levine failed to disburse all the funds from the Estate and paid himself excessive fees.

Based on the evidence presented, Superior Court Judge Rodger W. Daley removed Levine as Executor. More troubling, the Court found that Levine improperly took Estate funds for his personal benefit and ordered him to repay more than $200,000.

“Brian Levine has violated his fiduciary duty as an executor and accountant to safeguard the funds of an estate with which he was entrusted,” stated Somerset County Chairwoman Peg Shaffer. “this transgression calls into question his ability to safeguard Township finances and disqualifies him from holding public office. He should withdraw his candidacy immediately.”
