Scholarship Opportunities

Somerset, NJ — The Somerset County Democratic Committee Black
Caucus (SCDCBC) is pleased to announce that applications are currently
being accepted for the Somerset County Future (Political) Leaders
Scholarship. Applications will be accepted from November 15, 2019
through December 16, 2019.

The Somerset County Future (Political) Leaders Scholarship recognizes
undergraduate college students of African descent who reside in Somerset
County and have “demonstrated a commitment to community activism and
engagement towards their community’s socio-economic health and wellbeing
in New Jersey”.

Awards
Two undergraduate scholarship awards are available in the amount
between $500.00 to $1000.00 each for a single year. Awards are for one
year only; however, recipients may re-apply for a second year. All
scholarship awards will be announced no later than February 6, 2020 and
paid directly to the recipients at the SCDCBC Scholarship Luncheon on
March 7, 2020.

Criteria

The scholarship is restricted to undergraduate students attending a 4-year
accredited college or university as a freshman, sophomore, or junior.
Additionally, applicants must: (1) reside in Somerset County (2) have a
declared major in the field of Political Science or a demonstrated interest in
the political arena (3) be a US citizen of African descent (4) have
completed at least one (1) year of college credits by the time the award is
received.

Deadline
Applications will be accepted from November 15th through December 16th
and can be accessed at www.scdcblackcaucus.org/scholarships
The SCDCBC is committed to supporting our youth who utilize the
political process to improve and advance the lives of people of African
descent.
