SOMERSET COUNTY REPUBLICANS CHOOSE THEIR CANDIDATES
AT A STANDING-ROOM ONLY CONVENTION

The Somerset County Republican Organization held its annual nominating convention at the Somerville Elks on Tuesday, March 15. The capacity crowd included over 200 county committee people and many more supporters and well wishers. The organiztion endorsed candidates for Somerset County Sheriff, Somerset County Clerk and Somerset County Commissioner.

Amber Murad is a member of the Watchung Board of Education and the Somerset County Open Space Board. Murad is the SCRO-endorsed candidate for County Commissioner. Murad lives in Watchung with her husband and two children.

John Sheridan is a retired Hillsborough Police Detective, who currently serves as Hillsborough’s Director of Emergency Services. Sheridan is a lifelong Hillsborough resident, who is father, and soon-to-be grandfather, who is running for Somerset County Sheriff

Suzanne Maeder is a member of the Manville Borough Council. She was elected in 2019, earning 64 % of the vote. An educator, Maeder lives with her husband in Manville and is the mother of three. The committee endorsed her for Somerset County Clerk.

“The Republican Party is excited about the Sheridan-Maeder-Murad ticket,” said Somerset County Republican Chairman Tim Howes. “They have strong backgrounds and bring dedication and unique ideas about county government with them. They will serve Somerset County well.”
