Somerset County Young Republicans Endorse Two Rising Stars, After Relaunching Chapter

Somerville, NJ – The Somerset County Young Republicans (SCYRs) are proud to endorse two rising stars this election cycle after reinstating itself earlier this year. The SCYRs unanimously support Freddie Hayeck for Watchung Borough Council and David Dabrowski for South Bound Brook Borough Council, two young Republicans, born and raised in Somerset County.

“We are proud to support Freddie and David. For us, it’s about supporting young candidates at the grassroots level to inspire more young people to get involved. And you can’t get any more grassroots than supporting homegrown candidates with strong ties to their respective communities,” said SCYR Chair Maggie Cucci of Somerville. “Both David and Freddie are great examples of servant leaders and the voters will see that.”

Freddie Hayeck, a Watchung native, is currently a member of the Watchung Hills Board of Education and an AmeriCorps volunteer. Before serving on the board, Freddie was an EMT and on the Watchung Hills Municipal Alliance, as well as a Watchung Hill Regional High School graduate.

David Dabrowski, a South Bound Brook native, is currently serving as an EMT for the South Bound Brook First Aid Squad. David is an Eagle Scout from Troop 42 and recent graduate of Somerset County Vocational & Technical High School, where he studied carpentry.

Committed to supporting YRs for local office, the SCYRs will continue to provide strategic campaign support as well as financial resources to the two campaigns. The YR Executive Board are no strangers to local campaigns as its members have worked on various legislative, gubernatorial, county, and congressional campaigns.

“We are committed to supporting these rising stars in every way we can,” said SCYR Vice Chair Tyler Seville of Bernards Township. “Young candidates often struggle the most with fundraising and oftentimes need someone to pressure test ideas and messaging. We hope to be all the above for Freddie and David as well as a resource for future candidates.”

Earlier this season, the YRs co-hosted a Leadership Breakfast with the Somerset County Republican Organization (SCRO) and all of the funds raised by the YRs will be committed to the two local races. Attendees included State Senator and Congressional Candidate Tom Kean, former Assemblyman and Gubernatorial candidate Jack Ciattarelli, and US Senate candidate Rik Mehta, Freeholder Brian Gallagher, and Surrogate Frank Bruno, along with several other local elected officials.

“We were glad to partner with the YRs on the event and glad to see this dynamic group is supporting these fine candidates. David and Freddie will undoubtedly continue to be assets to their respective communities,” said SCRO Chairman Tim Howes. “David and Freddie are important parts of the the future of the organization. They understand Somerset County, and that Republican leadership has made it one of the most desirable places to live in the nation.”
