Somerset County Youth Services to Host Webinar About Understanding Teen Dating Violence and Sexual Assault

Virtual Workshop on Sept. 30

SOMERVILLE, NJ – Parents, guardians and professionals who work with teenagers and families are invited to a free Zoom presentation, titled “Why Don’t Adults Take Our Relationships Seriously?” being held on Friday, Sept. 30, from 10 to 11:30 a.m. The workshop will be hosted by the Somerset County Office of Youth Services and presented by Safe + Sound Somerset.

Participants will get an inside look at teen dating violence and sexual assault using the most up-to-date research, including a new groundbreaking study about teen financial abuse. The program will build upon a healthy relationship framework that professionals can use to better understand these issues, compassionately help teens impacted by violence, and connect teen survivors with appropriate services.

The webinar will conclude with an interactive activity where participants will have a chance to answer real questions from local teens.

Safe+Sound Somerset has provided dating violence and sexual violence education programming to over 16,000 teens in Somerset County in the past 5 years. Students can anonymously ask questions about healthy relationships, dating violence, and sexual assault through technology. Safe+Sound Somerset services include access to resources, support, safe housing, counseling, legal advocacy, and education about healthy relationships, and trauma intervention services. All services are confidential and provided at no cost to individuals, families, and communities.
