South Jersey Young Democrats Organizations Speak Out Against Racism
The South Jersey Young Democrats, the Burlington County Young Democrats, the Young Democrats of Atlantic County, the Ocean County Young Democrats, and the Camden County High School Young Democrats condemn WKXW 101.5FM

CHERRY HILL, NJ – In response to the racist and discriminatory comments made by the hosts of the “Dennis & Judi Show” WKXW 101.5FM, the South Jersey Young Democrats, the Burlington County Young Democrats, the Young Democrats of Atlantic County, the Ocean County Young Democrats and the Camden County High School Democrats condemn the hateful rhetoric that was spoken yesterday. We request that a formal apology be given to our State Attorney General Gurbir S. Grewal as well as the Sikh American Community.

Since the 2016 election, we have seen an increase in expression of violent racism towards both religion as well as communities of color.  This hateful rhetoric not only promotes violence and racism but also encourages and justifies its continuation. We must always remember that an attack on one community is an attack on us all and uniting our differences and our diverse backgrounds is what will create and encourage understanding. However, if  we are to ignore the bigotry, our fellow neighbor goes through, we are failing at our collective morals of both religion and country.

For Sikhs, the turban is an identity that was given to them by the Sikh Guru’s too stand out. We request that those who are not familiar with the Sikh faith to take a moment and learn about the Sikh community by visiting a local Gurdwara (Sikh religious house of worship) or visiting the following website: http://saldef.org/
