South Jersey Young Democrats Welcome a New President and Vice President

Cherry Hill, NJ – Today, the South Jersey Young Democrats announce that Sam Bender, the vice president of the Young Democrats, will serve as the new president and Sarah Ballentine will become the next vice president. The new appointments come in light of the departure of current president Digna Townsend. Sam has served on the executive board of the Young Democrats since 2019 and is the Legislative Director for Fifth Legislative District Assemblyman Bill Moen. Sarah is one of the newest members of the executive board and was previously the new members chair. She works for Senator Fred H. Madden Jr. in the Fourth Legislative District as a Legislative Aide.

“It is an honor to become the next president of South Jersey Young Democrats. I am passionate about the mission of this organization to bring together young democrats from the eight southern counties. Together we discuss ideas to improve our communities and help get other young democrats elected into office. I have also had the pleasure of serving on the E-Board for the past two years and I am excited to continue SJYD’s important work,” says Bender. “While I recognize I have big shoes to fill from the successes of our past presidents, I look forward to the work myself and the E-Board will accomplish.”

“I am truly honored to serve as vice president and excited to carry on the great work of the South Jersey Young Democrats,” says Ballentine. “This has been a very difficult year, but I am up to the challenges and ready to hit the ground running.”
