Stanfield, Peters Drive Donations for Mt. Holly Homeless Shelter

LUMBERTON – Assemblywoman Jean Stanfield and Assemblyman Ryan Peters are calling on
the local community to donate new socks and winter hats to benefit the local homeless
population.

“There is a persistent need for new socks and winter hats to help the homeless get through the
tough winter months.” Stanfield said. “Let’s show our holiday spirit and come together to give
back to the people most in need.”

The 8th District Legislators are holding a donation drive at their office on 668 Main Street in
Lumberton from now until January 17. All donations will go to the Extended Hands Ministry in
Mount Holly. The shelter provides refuge to single men and gives preference to veterans in
need. Donations can be dropped off at the office between 9 a.m. and 5 p.m, Monday through
Friday.

“We’ve asked our community for so much help over the last couple of years with our service
initiatives, and they’ve come through every time. We’re asking once again for everyone to help
lift up those in need and come drop off some hats and socks,” Peters said.

Stanfield and Peters are holding the drive leading up to Martin Luther King Day as part of the
Volunteer Center of Burlington County’s MLK Day Challenge where it encourages local groups
to undertake a service initiative.
