State Committeewoman Candidate Jennifer Williams Campaign Garners Over 3,700 Votes and Expands Republican Party’s “Big Tent”

Mercer County Republican State Committeewoman candidate Jennifer Williams announced that she recently ended her campaign in the 2021 Republican Primary. According to the final official results posted by the Mercer County Clerk’s office, Ms. Williams’ State Committee campaign received over 3,700 Republican votes and won half of Mercer’s twelve municipalities. Overall, she also won over 120 Republican voting districts and tied in nearly 30 districts. Her campaign accomplished all of this and fell only 177 votes short of victory – while running “off the line” on the ballot and capturing 48.72% of the total 7,660 votes.

Former Republican State Committeewoman candidate Jennifer Williams stated, “I am very proud of my team’s performance during this State Committee race. It was an honor to run alongside my fellow Mercer Republicans United candidates and to connect with so many Republicans who are hungry to win and make a better future for our party. I began collecting petition signatures for the open Mercer County Republican State Committeewoman position in November 2020 and in the following months, my team and I spoke with thousands of Republican voters across Mercer County.

What these loyal Republicans taught us is that they badly want to win; to have every town represented in our party; and to have their voices heard. I believe that my own campaign and the campaigns of fmr. Senator Richard J. LaRossa, as well as Joseph Stillwell, Volodymyr Machevus and Michel Hurtado, gave these Republican voters a strong set of voices and much hope for the Party of Lincoln’s future in Mercer County.”

Williams and her tireless campaign team are quite thankful for all the support they received from around Mercer County, throughout New Jersey and even from around the country. Williams added, “This was a very tough Republican State Committeewoman race. Unfortunately, there were bigoted online, phone and text efforts to attack me for being LGBTQ in order to hurt my campaign and marginalize my supporters. These efforts failed, but they painted a contrary image to the truth of the GOP becoming a more inclusive party in New Jersey.”

Ms. Williams further stated, “Working hard and working smart can pay off in different ways throughout a political campaign and beyond. What I will always remember from this 2021 Primary campaign is how a race such as mine can touch someone, no matter who they are or where they come from. We received many small donations from individual Republicans, but one that particularly struck my heart was from a young conservative Republican who is also transgender. All she could afford to send was a small amount, but she wanted to support our campaign because she learned about my race online and said that my candidacy inspired her not to give up her political beliefs. I hope that she, herself, will run for office as a Republican one day.”

Ms. Williams looks forward to helping fellow Republican leaders and candidates in their upcoming elections and to continue working to build a big tent for the GOP across demographics everywhere.
