State Department of Education Changes
September School Board Election Day to Oct. 2

FREEHOLD, NJ – Monmouth County Clerk Christine Giordano Hanlon is advising residents that the New Jersey Department of Education (NJDOE) has moved the September 2018 Special School Election date to Tuesday, Oct. 2.

The statutory date of the September 2018 Special School Election is Tuesday, Sept. 25, which coincides with the second day of Sukkot, a full day of religious observance. N.J.S.A 19:60-2 provides the Commissioner of Education the authority to change a special school election date when it coincides with a period of religious observance.

After careful consideration of all religious observances following Sept. 25, the NJDOE has changed the September 2018 Special School Election date to Tuesday, Oct. 2.

The updated September Special School Election timeline can be found on the Monmouth County Clerk’s Office Elections website at MonmouthCountyVotes.com.
