Re:      Statement from Commissioner Jonathan Young

The statement below is by Commissioner Jonathan Young regarding the chemical spill in Bucks County on Friday night.

“The Camden County Department of Public Safety and the Office of Emergency Management have been closely following the chemical spill in southeastern Pennsylvania since Friday night. We have been talking on a regular basis with the state Department of Environmental Protection, state Office of Emergency Management, the U.S. Environmental Protection Administration, the U.S. Coast Guard and our water utilities over the last four days and they have assured us that our residents have not been impacted by the chemical release in Bristol, Pa. We will continue to monitor the situation and update residents if anything changes. That said, New Jersey American Water has asked for their customers to voluntarily conserve water for a short period of time. Otherwise, based on the experts in the field and in close consultation with the water providers in the county, there are no restrictions on the consumption of tap water in Camden County at this time.”
