STATEMENT BY CURTIS BASHAW ON BIDEN’S IMMIGRATION POLICY ANNOUNCEMENT
“We cannot have a serious discussion on Immigration Policy until the Biden Administration closes our Borders”
CAPE MAY — Curtis Bashaw, New Jersey Republican candidate for United States Senate, released the following statement today regarding President Joe Biden’s proposed new immigration policy entitled, “parole in place”:
“Let’s be clear, we cannot have a serious discussion on immigration policy until the Biden Administration closes our borders and ends the tremendous threat to our nation’s security and enormous strain on our country’s resources. Second, anyone convicted of a violent crime or connected to a terrorist organization needs to be deported immediately.
Once our border is secured, I’m in favor of helping people pursue the American Dream, especially those who’ve been in the U.S. for so long and are part of the fabric of our communities. However, we must be fair to those immigrants who’ve come here legally, followed the rules, and went through the process of citizenship. Any new process must include a mechanism to pay back taxes and ensure every person is vetted by ICE.
While I don’t believe in mass deportation, I don’t believe in providing blanket amnesty either. There needs to be a legal process and a pathway to citizenship that doesn’t strain our communities’ resources and keeps all Americans safe.”
