Statement by Governor Murphy on the U.S. Supreme Court Decision in Garland v. Cargill

“Today, the U.S. Supreme Court struck down yet another commonsense firearm safety measure – a rule prohibiting “bump stocks” that convert semiautomatic weapons into machine guns.  Fortunately, these devices remain illegal in New Jersey, but make no mistake: more people will die from needless gun violence because of the Supreme Court’s decision.  For the sake of our children and future generations, we must ensure that the Supreme Court begins allowing reasonable public safety measures to stand.”
