STATEMENT BY MENENDEZ FOR CONGRESS CAMPAIGN MANAGER JULIETTA VOGT ON BHALLA’S $600,000 INCOME HYPOCRISY
“5 days after our call for Ravi Bhalla to release phone, text, and email records related to serious allegations that he traded a cannabis dispensary approval for a no-bid contract for his law firm, Corrupt Ravi has shown his hypocrisy yet again and refused to release his records. But this is nothing new for Ravi.
“Hoboken residents have long known that they have never been Ravi’s first priority, but the facts are jarring:
“Despite earning $116,000 a year to serve as Hoboken’s full-time mayor, he received over $600,000 last year in outside income, including hundreds of thousands from obscure LLCs.
“So why won’t Ravi release his records? Because Ravi knows that if he lives up to his stated support of transparency, more voters will know what so many already do – that he is a crooked, self-dealing politician who puts himself first and the people that he is supposed to serve, last. On Tuesday, voters have a choice to reject Ravi’s dirty politics and to re-elect Congressman Rob Menendez so that he can continue delivering for every single resident of the Eighth Congressional District. And we know they will see right through Ravi.”
