Statement by Mikie Sherrill on the Baseless House Republican Impeachment Inquiry

WASHINGTON, D.C. – Today, Congresswoman Mikie Sherrill (NJ-11) released the following statement after House Republicans voted to open a baseless impeachment inquiry into President Joe Biden:

“This is a sham impeachment in search of evidence and a continuation of extreme MAGA Republican efforts to overturn the 2020 election. House Republicans’ baseless accusations have been undermined by their own witnesses, and members of their own party have acknowledged there is no evidence of wrongdoing by President Biden. So let’s be clear about what exactly this is: Retribution for the twice-impeached, criminally indicted former President Donald Trump. America deserves better.

“Instead of doing their jobs and passing national security funding for our democratic allies in Ukraine and Israel – and working to bring costs down for the American people – House Republicans are focused on the wrong priorities. Meanwhile, I’ll continue working to make New Jersey a better, more affordable place to live, work, and raise a family.”
