Statement from Democratic Party Chair John Currie on President Obama’s Endorsements of Andy Kim and Tom Malinowski for Congress
Today former President Barack Obama announced he is endorsing candidates Andy Kim, from New Jersey’s 3rd congressional district, and Tom Malinowski, from New Jersey’s 7th Congressional District, for United States Congress. New Jersey Democratic State Committee Chairman John Currie issued the following statement on President Obama’s endorsements:
“President Obama’s endorsements today are a true testament to the commitment Andy Kim and Tom Malinowski have for the future of New Jersey, as well as to the energy and enthusiasm they have each sparked in their respective districts. This is a well deserved acknowledgement for two candidates who are fighting for justice, equality, and opportunity as they push to help flip the house in November.”
Kim and Malinowski both served in the Obama administration prior to their campaigns for Congress. Kim worked at the White House with a focus on counter-terrorism and later served as Director for Iraq on President Obama’s National Security Council. Malinowski served as the Assistant Secretary of State for Democracy, Human Rights, and Labor during President Obama’s second term, promoting democracy, human rights, and protecting workers in trade agreements.
